and Commission Requirements
When commissioning
an oil on linen boat portrait, there are several concepts to consider. SIZE:
Where the final oil painting will be intalled, dictates the size of the
framed finished canvas. COMPOSITION:
With the magnificent light in Nantucket harbor, there are several options
to consider. Your boat could be painted under sail, moored, docked or
anchored. Another option to consider is a painting of the captain at the
helm. PHOTOSHOOT:
Louis works primarily from high quality slides that he will photograph
himself. Slides maintain the highest quality of detail and color that
serve as visual reference from which to work. Due to ever changing light
and how a boat interacts with its given environment, this photo shoot
is always necessary. If your boat will be portrayed under sail, the artist
will hire a boat with crew to "chase" your boat so the artist
can obtain the very best reference material possible. If there is another
location other than Nantucket you would like to see your boat portrayed
at, arrangements can be made to fulfill that request. With sufficient
notice, Louis is willing to travel. PRICING:
The price of a commissioned painting depends primarily on a few factors;
size and complexity of the final art, and whether or not your boat is
under sail. A firm price will be given once these factors are answered PAYMENT TERMS:
Louis feels that a successful commission should be created in tandem with
the client. Therefore the commission is divided into three efficient steps:
All shipping fees are in addition to the commission price. All preliminary work, ie; color and black and white sketches are property of Louis Guarnaccia. If they are desired by the client, they can purchased for a reasonable fee. |
